GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): At least seven Talibaninfo-icon insurgents have been killed and four others wounded during a US drone strike in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Fahim Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News that US forces carried out the strike on militants in the Gilan district of the province late on Monday night.

He said seven militant, including Pakistani rebels, were killed and four others wounded in the air raid, which also hit a vehicle full of weapons.

Sidiqullah, an inhabitant of the area, said three militants were killed in the raid. He also claimed seeing a vehicle carrying three insurgents being targeted by the drone.

Meanwhile, the Taliban also confirmed the strike. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said only two fighters were killed. Rockets and mortar shells were being carried by the vehicle struck, he concluded.
