Ghazni: ANA copter crashes after hitting tree

Sep 06, 2017 - 20:19

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): An Afghan National Army helicopter crash-landed after hitting a tree in Ajristan district of southern Ghazni province on Wednesday, injuring two personnel onboard, police said.

The helicopter crashed into a tree soon as it took off after delivering logistics to the district centre, said Ghazni police chief Gen Mohammad Zaman.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place at about 3pm. He said the copter’s one blade was broken in the crash.

But a Talibaninfo-icon spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed the fighters shot down the helicopter in Ghazni, killing all the crew.

The police chief also confirmed the crewmembers came under attack near simultaneously with the crash from Taliban militants, but the attackers fled as the Special Forces arrived at the scene.
